“Acid Jump”

4 layer silkscreen- Spring 2010

This was from my final project in basic printmaking. 

We had an exchange, and Bob decided we were going to chose our theme by playing the knuckle game. Each student wrote two four letter words on their knuckles and then stood in a circle, connecting knuckles with every other person. Your exchange were the two words in front of you (not your hands). I made 30 of these.

First Silkscreen in college

So, as a sophomore looking for the right artistic passage, I had loved and adored both my Basic Printmaking class, Bob Capozzi, the great teacher of said class, and all the things I had been learning. Realizing the advantages of the silkscreen process, I took on quite an ambitious first project by doing a 7 layer print of nerds. This is the product:


Probably still one of my best works to date. I really want to expand this concept and explore it to my heart's content.... aka, a contemplative idea for a thesis...? Who knows if that will actually happen...


Also, I know I just started this blog, and it might get difficult for me to post things, but as well as this blog i have this one: www.shannatech.blogspot.com The name is because I'm doing it for my Technology in the Art Room class, and talks about my ideas of teaching art in the classroom.

Early Prints

 So, I decided that Blogspot is a better choice than Tumblr if I want to start posting some of my artwork. Because I'm taking Silkscreen again, as well as Lithography, I know I'm going to want a more respected place to post my work for the upcoming semester. But, to start off I'll post these images of my first prints from school, around something like 18 months ago. They're a little messy, but lino-cuts are prone to mishaps. If it wasn't for Basic Printmaking, I would have had no direction in terms of medium/concentration. I love the flexibility of the department, and so many ways to create cool stuff on paper.
